Crazy Game of Thrones Facts
The Porcelain Throne
In Season 1 there was an episode in which Daenerys (Emilia Clarke) eats the heart of a stag as part of a Dothraki tradition. The heart was made of a “gummy bear” like substance. The scene was quite grotesque as Daenerys gets completely covered in blood of the stag. This resulted in a hilarious and rather embarrassing situation for Emilia. The blood was so sticky that when she went for a quick loo break, she actually got stuck to the toilet seat. Luckily she got free – otherwise the Khaleesi would have had to settle for a porcelain throne.

Banned By The Turkish Military
In November 2014, it was reported that the Turkish army had banned Game of Thrones in their military schools. The reason given was that it was done to protect the young minds from “sexual exploitation, pornography, exhibitionism, abuse, harassment and all negative behaviours“. However, this wasn’t the first time that the show had created problems for the Turkish army. According to a report in Cumhuriyet (the Turkish daily newspaper), officers were kicked out of a military academy in Istanbul (in 2012), for allowing cadets to watch the show.
Name of Thrones
The popularity of the show is at an all time high. Fans have even been naming their babies after the characters of the show. One such fan is famous cricketer Mahela Jayawardene. He and his wife, Christina, announced the name of their daughter as “Sansa Arya Jayawardene” to the world via Twitter.
There Is An Unaired Pilot
Very few people know that there is an unaired pilot of the show that was directed by Tom McCarthy (writer and director of Spotlight). The creators hated it and decided to shelve and re-shoot it. “We got everything wrong on a very basic level with the writing of it” show co-creator David Benioff told Variety. So, what was the problem? Apparently, when the creators screened the show for their friends, none of them “realized that Jaime and Cersei were brother and sister, which is a major, major plot point that we had somehow failed to establish“.

Game of Porn
If you ever felt that a background actress looked extra familiar it might be because you have seen her perform in other things, most likely in an erotic film. This topic could be an article on its own, and maybe someday we will write one in detail ?. Sahara Knight, Aeryn Walker, Maisie Dee, Samantha Bentley and Jessica Jensen are some of the porn-stars who have appeared in Game of Thrones in various seasons. But the most prominent name who was also able to leave her mark on the show was Sibel Kekilli. She played the role of Shae (Tyrion’s now deceased mistress). Before Sibelli tried her luck in mainstream acting, she was popularly known in the adult film industry by the name of Dilara.

The Red Wedding Actually Happened (Sort Of)
George R.R. Martin has stated that he drew inspiration to write the “Red Wedding” based on two dark events in Scottish history – The Black Dinner Of (1440) and The Massacre Of Glencoe (1692).
The Black Dinner – In 1440 (at Edinburgh Castle, Scotland), a Scottish King invited chiefs of Clan Douglas for a feast. The King massacred all the chiefs over the dinner table in a closed room, while a single drum played in the background.
The Massacre Of Glencoe – The Campbells killed thirty-eight MacDonalds from Clan MacDonald of Glencoe. The Campbells were actually guests of MacDonalds and had accepted their hospitality. The killings were done on the grounds that the MacDonalds had been slow to pledge their allegiance to the new king.
Surprise Cameo By George W. Bush
